Amazon AppStream works by streaming (what’s in a name) applications from the AWS Cloud down to a user’s device – never mind the type. The concept is simple and according to Amazon it simplifies application management, improves security, and reduces costs by moving company’s applications from their users’ physical devices to the AWS Cloud. I would agree, except for the management part.

While setting up a Proof of Concept is a great way to evaluate software solutions it can also be very time and resource consuming. Getting the budget is one thing, finding the time, and (right) people for the job is another. Let alone some of the more technical challenges that you’ll have to face and figure out. At the very least, even if the product(s) is/are simple to use you’ll still need to go through the basic installation and configuration steps, go over some of the FAQ’s, and so on before being able to get some testing done – it’s a fact of IT life as we know it. Right? Well, not any more.
Continue ReadingTransitioning to the Windows Virtual Desktop using Liquidware solutions
A couple of months ago I wrote about how Liquidware and Microsoft’s WVD (Windows Virtual Desktop) are better together, read more here. Today I’d like to talk a bit on how Liquidware solutions help in transitioning to the new WVD offering, including the on boarding process as well as continues management and monitoring once in production.

The need of doing User Environment Management on (all) your digital workspaces… and not just virtual
Average time to read: 5 minutesThroughout the years I have had the pleasure of visiting dozens of companies to talk about their ‘digital workspace’ challenges. Projects ranged from thousands of users/machines to just a few hundred. Some of these challenges were related to physical desktops, some to virtual, some were on-premises, some were cloud-based. I’ve worked for retail companies, financial, travel, in healthcare, etc. No matter their branch and/or size, they all dealt with the same types of issues.
E2EVC (Epic edition) Amsterdam is a wrap – notes, announcements, video’s & photo’s
Average time to read: 8 minutesThe E2EVC – Experts to Experts Virtualisation Congress (Epic edition) Amsterdam took place from Friday the 8th till Sunday the 10th. For those of you who are not familiar with the concept of E2EVC, go here– you’re missing out if you don’t. The following are a few notes from sessions I attended and people I spoke to. I’ve also included a few images here and there.
Innovation and making progress! Liquidware – you’ve heard about them before, right?
Average time to read: 5 minutesEven though I’m no longer employed by Liquidware, I still very much like the technology and people involved. In today’s post, I want to highlight some of the major product updates they have launched throughout the last couple of months – it’s pretty impressive. If you are going to be at E2EVC (Amsterdam) next week, make sure to stop by their session, I’ve picked up a glimpse and it’s going to be good. It’s on Saturday at 10:50 and goes by the session name: Go Hybrid. Applications, Profiles, and Data accessible via On-prem and Cloud. Presented by David Bieneman – Co-Founder and CEO of Liquidware.
The last write wins – NO, it does not, we do!
Average time to read: 5 minutesLast week I published a blog post around ProfileUnity named: The future looks bright for User Environment and Workspace Management, which, looking at the numbers was very well received – if you’ve missed it you can find it here. Today I’d like to focus on a more specific, and well-known issue that has been with us for many years and does tend to cause some headaches from time to time: the last write wins. Again, this will underline the power and flexibility that ProfileUnity brings to the table.
The future looks bright for User Environment and Workspace Management
Average time to read: 5 minutesProfileUnity is hot, there’s no denying. Everywhere I go partners and (potentially new) customers keep asking for demos, and as soon as I show them a thing or two they are eager to get their hands dirty. In fact, the number of trial licenses I have been handing out throughout the last couple of weeks must be some kind of a new internal record (I’ll make sure to check). Seriously, the demand for a future stable, easy and straightforward to use User Environment and Workspace Manager product has been higher than ever before.
Probleem – Windows 10 blijkt niet het beloofde ‘One OS to rule them all’. Gebruikersprofiel versies blijven wijzigen
