When it comes to both Meltdown and Spectre, the question you should be asking yourself is not if you are affected or at risk – because you most likely are. The question you should be asking yourself is what do I need to do and how does it impact the performance of my server/desktop farm?! Whether it’s virtual or physical, Microsoft, VMware or Citrix based, desktop or server, it doesn’t matter, all need to be looked after.
The Easy Button – A story about Corruption, Portability, Office 365, User Profile bloat, ProfileDisk, non-persistent Data Indexing and more…
20 Min. read – User profiles have been around for many years. According to Wikipedia the user-profiling scheme in force today owes its origins to Windows NT, which stored its profiles within the system folder itself, typically under C:\WINNT\Profiles\. Windows 2000 saw the change to a separate “Documents and Settings” folder for profiles, and in this respect, is virtually identical to Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.
In detail. Windows 10, the one OS to rule them all – Except it’s NOT
Throughout the last couple of months, I have published multiple articles on blog.liquidware.com. As you might have noticed, two of them were in Dutch. Since many of you have been asking what I wrote about, this post will address some of the challenges you will encounter when dealing with multiple versions of the Windows Operating System, including multiple versions of Windows 10 which was one of the main topics throughout my last (Dutch) article.
The last write wins – NO, it does not, we do!
Last week I published a blog post around ProfileUnity named: The future looks bright for User Environment and Workspace Management, which, looking at the numbers was very well received – if you’ve missed it you can find it here. Today I’d like to focus on a more specific, and well-known issue that has been with us for many years and does tend to cause some headaches from time to time: the last write wins. Again, this will underline the power and flexibility that ProfileUnity brings to the table.
The future looks bright for User Environment and Workspace Management
ProfileUnity is hot, there’s no denying. Everywhere I go partners and (potentially new) customers keep asking for demos, and as soon as I show them a thing or two they are eager to get their hands dirty. In fact, the number of trial licenses I have been handing out throughout the last couple of weeks must be some kind of a new internal record (I’ll make sure to check). Seriously, the demand for a future stable, easy and straightforward to use User Environment and Workspace Manager product has been higher than ever before.
Probleem – Windows 10 blijkt niet het beloofde ‘One OS to rule them all’. Gebruikersprofiel versies blijven wijzigen

The application layering technology cheat sheet, version 4.0!
It has already been six months (a little over) since my last update, time for version 4.0 – a lot has happened in the meantime, as a result, you’ll see some noticeable changes. Not only from a feature/functionality perspective but from a vendor/company perspective as well. From now on I will be focusing on the big three: Citrix, with App Layering – former Unidesk, VMware App Volumes and Liquidware FlexApps.
