I just finished presenting at the first ever online Microsoft Meet Community event around Windows Virtual Desktop. Thank you, Microsoft NL and Christiaan Brinkhoff for the invite. And of course a big thank you to all who joined my session. As promised during the presentation, here is my slide deck. Hopefully some of you learned, heard, or saw something new today. If you have any questions, let me know or feel free to reach out to any of the companies I mentioned. I’m sure they won’t mind ;)

Have you registered already? No? Well, you better hurry up than. They are nearing a 1000 participants and I’m not sure what the limit will be. Go here to do so. While it was planned to be an in-person event, it will now be a virtual event only, due to the COVID_19 pandemic. Have a look at the agenda, Microsoft MVP’s exclusively and some very interesting topics. Let me tell you about mine for a bit.
Continue ReadingOur Byte-Sized book is AVAILABLE for download – FREE of charge
First and foremost, we would again like to say THANK YOU! Thank you, to everyone who contributed, bought a copy, helped spread the word, or otherwise. It’s been quite a roller-coaster, and to say we enjoyed every moment of it would be an understatement.
Continue Reading20 years in IT, here’s what I’ve picked up along the way. Big read, skimming optional
A catchy title, right? “Here’s what I’ve picked up during my last 20 years of my life” would have worked as well, if you know what I mean. But hey, we’re in IT, we are ambitious, hungry for knowledge, eager to learn, over achievers, workaholics, and what not. It’s fun, potentially stressful, hard work, but also very satisfying and rewarding at the same time. At least that’s how I would describe my career so far.
Continue ReadingEUC-X becomes EUCdigest, a name change. About to launch!
Yes, we changed our name from EUC-X to EUCdigest. It turned out that EUC-X was already taken (an unfortunate timing issue) and we were legally forced to come up with something else. Luckily we had EUCdigest as a backup, and to be honest, we like it… A LOT! Perhaps better even.
Continue ReadingThe Book Byte-Sized project is donating to charity!
Throughout the last couple of weeks we’ve had some great and positive feedback on our book project – next to a whole bunch of contributions/submissions, of course. And by the way, we is Christiaan Brinkhoff and myself. We spoke about supporting a charity case before, and when multiple others suggested something similar we decided to just go for it. Here’s what we have in mind…
Continue ReadingByte sized Cloud design principles and architectural recommendations
Average time to read: 9 minutesThe idea behind this project is simple, we’re looking for as many Cloud related design principles, best or common practices, (funny) quotes, tips & tricks, and architectural recommendations as possible. Almost anything goes. Forget about AWS, Azure, Google, IBM, Oracle, and all others, it’s the concept that matters, not the underlying vendor – 99 out of 100 times anyway. It can involve SaaS, IaaS, DaaS, PaaS, RaaS, or whatever aaS you can think of – private, public, or hybrid Cloud are all optional. General recommendations are more than welcome as well, it doesn’t have to involve technology per se. Please, read on.
VDI Drones – 2019 update
Average time to read: 4 minutesRemember when I told you about VDI Drones, back in September 2018? No? Click the link below if you would like to learn more. Anyway, since then we got a ton of feedback. In this post, we’d like to share what has happened in the meantime. Again, we would like to thank you all for your time and efforts throughout the last couple of months, to say you’ve been helpful would be a major understatement.
Introducing: VDI Drones – Mass bench-marking and load testing, easy as pie
Average time to read: 14 minutesAbout two weeks ago I had the pleasure to sit down with Dennis Smith – founder and owner of Gourami software. Dennis and I have known each other for a couple of years now and I’ve come to know Dennis as real IT nerd with a big passion for developing software – free (community) software, as well as various ‘paid for’ solutions. Today I would like to introduce you to VDI Drones, a new product released by Gourami aimed at benchmarking/load testing your virtual and underlying physical infrastructure.
10 books I recommend reading – both for inspiration and practical purposes
Average time to read: 5 minutesI’d like to share with you 10 books I have read throughout the last year or so. I do not read dozens of books per year, nor do I read fictional books – I just don’t have the patience. When I read I want to learn something, preferably something I can apply both personally as well as professionally. Here are 10 titles I enjoyed very much and knowing my audience, so to speak, I’m pretty sure you will too, with an exception here and there. Per book I’ve included a short description as well as the accompanying ISBN numbers.Continue Reading
